Does God Have a Specific Purpose for My Life?

Your story did not begin at your birth, which means it cannot be judged by how the last few years have gone.

God’s own stated purpose is a person, not a project. “This is my work and my glory,” He told Moses, “to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:39). It is also easy to picture God as having left one specific career, one specific person and one specific calling somewhere for you to find, with everything depending on locating them. That version makes people anxious rather than faithful, and it is not how scripture describes almost anyone’s life.

• Whose life am I using as the standard, and did God give me that standard?
