Scriptures
We begin by asking: What has God revealed? Our foundation is the standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, together with the teachings of living prophets and apostles.

Methodology
How we bring revealed truth, lived experience, and careful scholarship together to answer the questions that matter most.
Over years of teaching, studying, and supporting the family, we developed the **3S Teaching Method: Scriptures, Stories, and Scholarship.** Scriptures ground each question in revealed truth and prophetic teaching. Stories show how those truths are lived. Scholarship helps illuminate patterns, outcomes, and human experience. Each plays a distinct role, and together they bring greater clarity, depth, and humanity to the way we teach the family.

Because Truth Is Lived by Real People
Doctrine becomes more meaningful when we see how it is lived. That is why stories are an essential part of our teaching method.
We share first-person accounts from real people navigating questions of marriage, identity, sexuality, infertility, family, repentance, and faithful discipleship when life does not unfold as expected. Their experiences help us see its human dimension: someone else has faced this, chose to follow Christ, and found a faithful way forward.
Because Good Questions Deserve Careful Thinking
The restored gospel welcomes learning, so we draw from peer-reviewed research in areas such as marriage, parenting, child development, relationships, psychology, sociology, and human flourishing.
When careful scholarship sheds additional light on principles taught through revelation, we believe that relationship is worth exploring.
We also recognize research’s limits. Studies vary in quality, methods evolve, and findings can be debated. For that reason, scholarship serves as a thoughtful companion to gospel teaching, never a substitute for revealed doctrine.
The 3S Teaching Method is supported by a growing, carefully curated research library of family-centered sources. Behind every answer is this curated collection of materials, continuously discovered, ingested, scored for relevance, and embedded for semantic search to ensure depth, accuracy, and contextual alignment.

The size of the library matters, but curation matters more.
Our aim is not to gather everything ever written about the family. It is to build a body of material that allows important questions to be explored deeply, responsibly, and from sources appropriate to the kind of claim being made.
Every line of The Family: A Proclamation to the World is being connected to relevant scriptures, prophetic teachings, stories, scholarship, and trusted resources. Over time, this creates something more than a database. It creates a teaching framework centered on the revealed doctrine of the family.
Our Commitment to Trustworthy Answers
If we cannot find clear support for an answer in scripture, the teachings of prophets and apostles, or careful research, we will simply say so. We would rather be transparent about what is known than give more certainty than the sources allow.
A Companion to Personal Revelation
This site is designed to support your study, not replace the sacred ways God guides you personally. We hope it helps you find trusted sources, understand doctrine more clearly, and prepare to seek answers through scripture, prayer, the Holy Ghost, and inspired priesthood counsel when needed.
