Week 11: Doctrine & Covenants 23-26

In Section 25 the Lord tells Emma Smith that she is an elect lady, and among other callings, is counseled to be a comfort to her husband and let her soul delight in him (her husband). In an age of “self care” this admonition could sound shockingly old-fashioned, irrelevant, and maybe even offensive to modern wives. But the first two great commandments don’t include an all-important command to love ourselves. We are commanded to love God and next to love one another. Perhaps those are the steps to also truly loving ourselves.
